„Sternenstaub“ (engl. stardust) is the second piece of the uncompleted cosmic trilogy. It describes the process of a supernova decomposing into stardust.
It is a microtonal aleatoric composition for quarter tone piano and electronics.
The piece is composed for the „Krypta“ in the Robert Schumann University Düsseldorf made by Emil Schult (former member of „Kraftwerk“). It is part of the „new soundtrack“ for the Krypta, made by several composers of the „Studio 209“, the original composition for the Krypta was done by Karlheinz Stockhausen.
